God's Concrete Angels

He will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." Matthew 25:45

What I Call Home

What I call home is not fancy and big.

What I call home is looked down upon by most.

What I call home is void of most visitors and guests.

What I call home is in short supply of material things, but in abundance of love, care, and most importantly, God.

This is WHAT I CALL HOME!

Courage Defined

Courage to get back up again, after being knocked down so many times.

Courage to look at our possibilities instead of our circumstances.

Courage to thrive not just survive.

Courage to move forward when everything and everyone are saying stay put.

Courage to know, that even though everything around us may be falling apart, God’s got us.

That’s how we DEFINE COURAGE!

God’s Concrete Angels

We Thirst For...

We thirst for just a single word of encouragement, instead of words of discouragement.

We thirst for more understanding and less misunderstanding.

We thirst for a chance to be seen as what we can be, not as what we are.

We thirst for more happiness and less sadness.

We thirst for acceptance not rejection.

We thirst for a day filled with joy instead of a day filled with pain.

We thirst for that day WHEN WE THIRST NO MORE!

He Sees

Society sees you as unworthy, He sees you as worthy.

The world sees you as broken, He sees you as built up.

Most see you as unredeemable, He sees you as redeemed.

Many see you as throwaways, He sees you as lost treasure.

Society sees no hope, He sees complete hope.

BECAUSE (HE) GOD SEES!

God's Concrete Angels

SEE ME?

I'm the person you pass on the corner, asking for help.

See me?

I'm the person living under the bridge, wondering where my next meal will come from.

See me?

I'm the person working, but not making enough for a real home, just a temporary shelter.

See me?

I'm the person who sometimes has conversations with myself, constantly fighting the illness in my mind.

See me?

I'm the person who has everything I own in one shopping cart.

See me?

I'm the person who cries out in constant pain, inside and out.

See me?

PLEASE SEE ME!

YET HE IS ALWAYS WITH US

We begin our journey each day with hope, that ends most days with disappointment.

Yet he is always with us

To the outside world we seem forever lost.

Yet he is always with us

Our fears and worries are tightly hidden.

Yet he is always with us

Our shame and disgrace create endless turmoil.

Yet he is always with us

Joy and happiness escape us.

Yet he is always with us

Even though our hardships seem endless, giving up is not an option.

BECAUSE WE KNOW GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US!

BUT WE STILL HAVE HOPE

We've been knocked down and counted out, but we still have hope.

You see us as lazy, stupid, and untouchable, but we still have hope.

Our days are constant struggles, made harder by each passing day, but we still have hope.

We work and save, longing for the comforts of a real home not a temporary shelter, but we still have hope.

Our evenings are lonely, quiet, and often frightening, but we still have hope.

We are invisible to most and a burden to others, but we still have hope.

At times we apologize for just existing, but we still have hope.

We long for the day when these struggles end, and our hope becomes reality.

But until then, WE STILL HAVE HOPE!

God's Concrete Angels

EVEN THOUGH

They are seldom seen, even though they stand out.

Most can't be bothered with them, even though they long for our attention.

We tell ourselves its someone else's problem, even though it's a problem for all.

Just get a job we tell them, even though most have tried without success.

Suffering and pain are a constant reminder, even though relief is just a care away.

The days pass like long treacherous winters, even though some may not make it through to see another day.

Dignity and respect is far and few, even though the cost is much higher not to.

Tears of despair fall like rain, even though they long for tears of joy.

In the end most die unseen, lonely, lost, and forgotten.

EVEN THOUGH
